Improving Practice

DFV Assist

DFV Assist received an overwhelming number of expressions of interest from medical and allied health practices for training on DFV.

domestic violence

DFV Assist aims to build the capacity of primary care providers to support patients experiencing domestic and family violence (DFV) through training and a referral support service, which commenced on 1 July 2021. In 2021-22:

338
Health professionals attended DFV training over 35 sessions
29
CESPHN received 29 requests for referral support and secondary consultations about patients experiencing DFV
127
Practices in the region accessed the service

You feel like you have an existing relationship with a PHN, so you're more comfortable to make the phone call directly to the PHN for that support as opposed to a domestic and family violence service
